Anyone who doubts the influence of Japan's erotic cultural imports in the U.S. only has to spend time with a Hello Kitty vibrator to know it's not just a fringe subculture anymore.
YA!! Lets just give the tween girls in this country one more reason to be thinner, sexier, and give more young boys reasons to see women as objects to buy and sell, like toys with no real feeling or life. Way to go Japan: YOU SUCK!!
You obviously did not read the article. Perhaps you should consider going back and doing that.
Soon the average age for Motherhood will be even lower!! :|
YOU OBVIOUSLY DID ON READ THE ARTICLE!
That may be the biggest Japanese influence on American sex. In otaku culture, gender is increasingly fluid and interchangeable. Play and fantasy are more important than actually having sex with a real person.
In reality, young folks who indulge in this are more and more likely to not make real contact. I know young men and woman in their mid to late 20s who are BY CHOICE still virgins. They choose not to physically intimate. There are many venues for this. I think one of the most popular is IMVU where you can have an adult pass and that gives you access to all kinds of virtual venues where there is sex play.
Great, now because I like anime and manga because it's entertaining (p.s.: I actually go for series which aren't sexualized, or if they have some sexual content, that it has an actual story to it too), I get to be painted as a sexual amoral pervert. Thanks MSNBC!
I couldnt have said it better myself, as I read the article these are the exact words I wanted to slap these Msnbc people with, Thank you.
""Lolicon" (or Lolicom, a combination of "Lolita" and "comic")"
Wow, I guess Mr. Alexander didn't even think to check google and/or wikipedia before writing this article. It's hard to take said article seriously in the absence of research, and I'd even go so far as to suggest that Mr. Alexander should watch "Gurren Lagann" before labeling it a "sexually explicit anime" with "blurry morality." The morality in this show was about as clear-cut as they come.
It is a cartoon!
I remember when the Pink Panther, The Road Runner and Tom and Jerry were under attack for being too violent, some people need to get a life and leave the rest of us alone!
If you don't like it don't watch, but don't you tell me what I can watch or what I should let my kid watch!
He-man is still in the closet! :-)
One of the Tele-a-tubies is gay it carries a purse!
Give me a break from the moral police.
Now this is a story, all about how my life got-
flipped - turned upside down,
And I'd like to take a minute,
just sit right there,
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air
In West Philadelphia,
born an' raised,
on the playground is where I spent mosta my days,
Chillin out, maxin', relaxin' all cool,
An' all shootin some B-ball outside of the school,
When a couple o' guys who were up to no good,
Started makin' trouble in my neighbourhood,
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared,
She said 'You're movin with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air!'
I whistled for a cab and when it came near,
The license plate said 'Fresh',
And had dice in the mirror,
If anything I could say that this cab was rare,
But I thought 'Nah, forget it - Yo, homes to Bel-Air!'
I pulled up to the house at bout seven or eight,
I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes, smell ya later!'
I looked at my kingdom,
I was finally there!
To sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air!
ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH
Oh please, this argument is as old as the video games cause violence one. Seriously, brutal violence used to be a society norm way before TV's or cars, let alone video games.
And its not like Japan has cornered the market on selling sex to young boys... in fact I think their business models are looking more and more... capatalism... americanism... oh it sucks when the influx starts to overcome your outflux...
The best way to teach a young boy not to objectify women is through his father figures in his life. If he has decent father figures, he doesnt have to look to video games and manga to do his rearing. And as sad as it sounds, many video games and books have way more moral and civil substance than some parents.
